About the Role

Painter prepares surfaces, applies paints and other finishes to buildings, and maintains the work area to ensure a professional and protected outcome. Key responsibilities include surface preparation like cleaning and sanding, mixing and matching colors, using tools like brushes and rollers, and ensuring safety throughout the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, scrape, sand, and repair surfaces. This includes removing old paint or wallpaper, patching holes, and taping off areas to protect them from paint.
  • Mix paints to match specified colors and ensure consistency across the project.
  • Apply primers, paints, stains, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers to various surfaces like walls, ceilings, and furniture.
  • Keep the work area clean, set up and take down equipment like scaffolding, and clean tools and equipment after use.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for everyone.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure it meets quality standards and client specifications.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Trade Certificate or Diploma or equivalent apprenticeship or associate Degree is desirable.
  • Prior experience in given role and construction industry is highly valued.

Hard and technical skills

  • Work with clients to understand their needs, recommend colors, and ensure satisfaction with the final result.
  • Calculate the amount of paint and other materials required for a project.
  • Depending on the role, a painter may also perform tasks like hanging wallpaper, tiling, or making minor repairs to windows.

Physical health is paramount for this role, as Painters often work in demanding environments.
